Our Trip to Venice, Italy

Home to many of the world's greatest works of art, architecture and gastronomy, Italy inspires and moves like no other.

Recently, my boyfriend and I went to Venice for our three year anniversary. I am going to share with you my experience and of course - a lot of photos.

We were told that Venice could get terribly crowded during December, but we were lucky that it wasn't that crowdy. Since you’d be walking a lot it is safe to say that wearing comfy shoes and clothing would be best. Make sure to bring a winter hat and gloves because it was really windy and cold. 

After approximately 8 hours of travelling from Zagreb (bus), we finally arrived at Punta Sabbioni.
From there, we went on a boat to Venice.

We arrived at Riva degli Schiavoni (35 minutes from punta Sabbioni) which s a waterfront in Venice. There is a lively, although often overcrowded, promenade along the waterfront.

On top of this monument is an equestrian statue of Emanuele II., first King of unified Italy. On either side of the monument is a woman and her winged lion - one is posed as if in battle with a lion gnawing at his chains, on this side is a women dressed in royal garb and a roaring lion with his claws upon two closed books. 

If you’re up for a romantic trip with your partner then a gondola ride is perfect for you. The only downside about it: the price. They can be very expensive, but you can always negotiate.

St Mark's Square is the principal public square of Venice, where it is generally known just as la Piazza ("the Square").

And then this happened:

St. Mark’s Basilica is well known for its extravagant design, which symbolized the Venetian wealth and power. Its interior is in gold to express its status with beautiful mosaic designs that resembles the Venetian’s love for beauty.

It is the most famous of the city's churches and one of the best known examples of Italo-Byzantine architecture.

Rialto Bridge is one of the four bridges spanning the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy. It is the oldest bridge across the canal, and was the dividing line for the districts of San Marco and San Polo.

From here on, our tour guide left us and we explored Venice on our own. A lot of people say that it is easy to get lost, but thankfully we didn't. 

In Venice it is all about walking, and on your way you will see a lot of amazing store displays and stores that offer everything you want.

Santa Maria della Salute (English: Saint Mary of Health), commonly known simply as the Salute, is a Roman Catholic church and minor basilica located at Punta della Dogana in the Dorsoduro sestiere of the city of Venice, Italy.

All in all, we had a great time! I would recommend  everyone to visit Venice.
